First formed in 2016 by Lead Vocalist PAUL WELSCH, THE FIVE SHADES OF GRAY play a variety of styles, songs and genres, but they are best known as a classic/southern rock act. Over the band’s career, they have built a strong following. They have established many relationships with local venues and organizations. In the beginning starting with brewery's including Twin Creeks Brewing company where they where the select band for their first 2 to 3 year anniversaries. After putting in the work and determination bigger venues became standard including multiple shows at Mingle in the Market in Vinton, VA, Daleville Town Center, Dr. Pepper Park, and Covington VA. Other venues included multiple SML Marina's, Fork in the Alley, Brady's Distillery,  TCBC Explorer Park, Watering hole, The Hangout, and many more. The band has a professional show and perfect sound system and lighting set.  

The current lineup includes the powerful voice of  PAUL WELSCH on lead vocals & Acoustic rhythm guitar, ED WELLS rhythm & lead guitar, and backup vocals, TRACE FRANKLIN on rhythm & lead guitar, and backup vocals, LOUIS SOLDANO on Bass guitar, Harmonica and backup vocals, KARL FRIEDRICH on keyboards and backup vocals, WALTER BAUMOEL on Drums, 

THE FIVE SHADES OF GRAY  are a self-contained, fully mobile band. The band travels complete with state of the art sound and lighting, top of the line amps, guitars, keys, and drums. The crew is headed up by soundman Bill Johnson.
